This is the time of year where one of two things happens to many women. If you’re lucky and found you a good one, this is the time that a special someone you’ve been kicking it with since the start of cuffing season starts to plan out a romantic Valentine’s Day for the two of you. The second goes a little something like, the guy you were canoodling with isn’t looking for anything more than a seasonal fling, so, he starts to make his way towards the exit – starting arguments here and there or just slowly calling less and less – before the Hallmark holiday arrives.
Now if you’e single or been involved in a relationship for a minute now, this doesn’t apply to you but for those that do, I bid you good luck. For those that wants to make sure they’re not hit with the second scenario, I suggest you sit bae down and let them peep this video for “Helium Balloon” by Los Angeles-based singer JaVonté.
The super smooth single from his Where Have You Been LP track is very straight forward and direct and the correlating visuals directed by Carla Carter show just how you could be standing if things go left.

Back in October of 2015, I stumbled on to a young Bay Area artist named Mayzin, when Music collective and Film Noir Sound released a compilation titled Cinema Black. Catching my attention with his soft tone and suave flow, Mazyin has consistently shown he’s one to watch
In just a few days, the Oakland via San Diego native will be releasing a new project called Something I Wanted. After the release of the project, we’re sure the rapper is going to appear on many radars.
This latest track to emerge on Mayzin’s SoundCloud should give you some indication why. It’s titled “Higher” and features production by Raava, the same guy who created that awesome flip of Tory Lanez’s “Initiation” record with LMC.
Give the track a spin below and check back on January 30th when Mayzin’s Something I Wanted project drops.
